Sustainable Beef: Our 6-Pillar Commitment

Harris Ranch believes that promoting sustainability in all our operations is critical to our future and that of the agriculture industry. Dedication to our 6 key beef sustainability pillars is achieved through our commitments and measurements to our principles of quality, humane livestock handling and good corporate citizenship. Harris Ranch is committed to participating in and accelerating progress on all 6 pillars of our sustainability program utilizing the North American Meat Institute’s Protein PACT sustainability framework.

Minimizing our carbon footprint

To minimize our carbon footprint, the corn fed to our cattle arrives by train directly from the Midwest to our company owned milling operation. We coordinate shipments with other local businesses to use all 110 cars in each train as efficiently as possible, which is much friendlier for our environment than convoys of trucks. Once beef is processed, 90% of all Harris Ranch Beef is distributed within a 250-mile radius of our processing facility reducing the food miles needed to get beef from pasture to plate
